Main Road into town

The first view in this series plus the landscape scene is from the balcony of our apartment. This is downtown Montalbino. The big building in the back is the old castle area which is now an apartment complex. The shrine is in the middle and the newer Church on the right. The main highway connecting the towns passes in front of the castle. Montalbino is two rows of houses back to back. The second road pictured is essentially a driveway off the main highway.

We stayed in the apartment above the garage. The Church is located behind this building. The monastary on the left is not used. In 2004 they were still using the Church on Sunday. Notice Montalbino on the door.

The Church museum at pieve of S. Peter at the market where the Madonna with the Child of Andrea di Giusto and other works from Montalbino are on display. It was closed the day we were there.
